After an event you are left with a folder of five hundred frames named IMG_20240517_143022.jpg. Sorting that in a file manager is painful: previews are tiny, renaming is one file at a time, and shrinking the keepers for email needs a separate editor.

HyperPhoto puts all three jobs in one browser window. It opens a folder from your disk, shows large tiles, lets you cull with the keyboard, and renames and compresses the selection in a single action. The files stay on your machine — the extension requests no site access and uploads nothing.

Roughly 10.8 × 8.6 cm tiles, three per row and resizable — bad frames are obvious without opening each file.

Fast culling

Click, shift-click for a range, and the spacebar from the keyboard: your hands stay where they are.

Full-screen review with EXIF

Zoom to 100% pixels and read the capture data to check sharpness and settings.

Batch renaming

Sequential numbering, an optional prefix and a warning about name collisions. Renamed files stay where they are.

Compression to a target size

Set a maximum weight; quality is chosen automatically and never drops below 72%, with resolution reduced only if the limit demands it.

Tidy folder handling

Compressed copies go to a “Compressed photos” subfolder and rejects to “Trash”. Originals are never deleted.

The extension asks for no site access — you choose the folder it works with.

How to use it

  1. Click the HyperPhoto icon and pick a photo folder.
  2. Cull with clicks, shift-clicks or the spacebar; open borderline frames full screen.
  3. Batch-rename the selection with a prefix and a starting number.
  4. Set a maximum file size if needed and run compression.

How to install

  1. Open the extension page

    Click “Add to Chrome” — it opens the official Chrome Web Store listing.

  2. Confirm the install

    Chrome shows the permissions. Press “Add extension” to confirm.

  3. Pin the icon

    Click the puzzle icon next to the address bar and pin the extension so it stays visible.

  4. Open it

    Click the icon. No account, no payment, no configuration needed.

Edge, Opera, Brave, Arc and Yandex Browser install it the same way — they are Chromium-based and open the Chrome Web Store directly. If your browser asks for extra confirmation, choose “Install anyway”.

They are not erased — they move to a “Trash” subfolder and can be restored at any time.
